258 Clinical Cases in Medicine for DNB and MRCP Examinations, Postgraduate training in medical colleges is not so much updated because of lack of sufficient number of teachers and mushrooming of medical colleges. The students of medicine do not find sufficient clinical material to learn as they are not exposed to requisite clinical cases as well as the material. The author, being an examiner in postgraduate examinations, finds that the students lack clinical orientation to medicine and face difficulty in interpreting clinical signs and their significance while making differential diagnosis and final diagnosis. 258 Clinical Cases in Medicine aims to serve the interest of postgraduate students in medicine (MRCP/MD/DNB) and allied sciences. It describes 258 cases in medicine which are clinically discussed to make the students oriented to clinical examination and diagnosis. At the end of each case, questions have been answered for making the students updated on the case discussed. It is a known fact that there is scarcity of such types of books and many books written by the foreign authors are not understandable to the Indian students. This book will cater to the needs of postgraduate students in medicine and allied sciences (pulmonology and dermatology) and help them be prepared for postgraduate examinations. A Training Manual for Health Workers
The Manual has evolved out of two years of operational research undertaken to strengthen lEC/health promotion component under National Health Mission in the project "Development of an integrated model of health promotion in a district setting" undertaken in districts of Hoshiarpurin Punjab andAmbala in Haryana, from 2013 to 2016. Common risk factors for communicable diseases (CDs), noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), injuries and RCH issues such as unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, smoking, substance abuse, harmful use of tobacco and alcohol, negligence in road safety, stress, unsafe water, lack of personal and oral hygiene, etc. have become the leading determinants for morbidity and mortality worldwide. Among NCDs, a majority of all deaths in the world are caused by cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases. These diseases affect productivity and drain family resources so adversely that they have become a major threat to the economic and social development. Today, the call for promoting healthy lifestyle by reducing above mentioned risk factors remains a challenge in both urban and rural settings. Simultaneously, there is a need to understand the underlying social determinants caused by globalization, urbanization and aging population to help reduce the prevalence of mortality and morbidity from common risk factors of CDs, NCDs, injuries and RCH issues. The Training Manual on the integrated health promotion is envisioned to be an important capacity-building tool for having a holistic approach within the broader health promotion/IEC/BCC activities in National Health Programs being implemented in communicable and noncommunicable diseases, injuries and addressing RCH issues
