This book is based on over three decades of experience as an active clinician and academician who has been teaching medical students for the final MBBS examination and training postgraduate students for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) in obstetrics and gynaecology (Sri Lanka) and the MRCOG (UK) examinations. These diseases affect productivity and drain family resources so adversely that they have become a major threat to the economic and social development.
