The author, Dr Eranthi Samarakoon, being a dedicated and a committed teacher, understands the difficulties faced by the students ever since the single best answer (SBA) questions were introduced in medical curriculum in many countries around the world. She realises that the successful preparation for a professional examination requires understanding the style of the questions asked and the process of the examination. With these goals in mind, she has produced this set of two books containing a large number of questions in obstetrics (214) and gynaecology (214) to help the students in facing the examination with confidence. Eranthi Samarakoon MBBS, MS(SM Lanka), FRCOG (UK) is a senior lecturer and consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Peradeniya University and the Teaching Hospital, Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She obtained second class honors at the final MBBS examination and came first in the order of merit at the Master of Surgery in obstetrics and gynaecology (Sri Lanka) part 1 and part 2 examinations. She completed the final year of her postgraduate training at St Mary?s Hospital, Manchester, and got through the MRCOG (UK) examination at the first attempt. She was Board certified as a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in Sri Lanka in 1983 and has been in active practice since then. This book is based on over three decades of experience as an active clinician and academician who has been teaching medical students for the final MBBS examination and training postgraduate students for the Doctor of Medicine (MD) in obstetrics and gynaecology (Sri Lanka) and the MRCOG (UK) examinations. She has been an examiner for the final MBBS examination in all eight universities in Sri Lanka and for the MD obstetrics and gynaecology (Sri Lanka) examination. She plays a major role in the clinical training and examinations for undergraduate and clinical training of postgraduate students. At least five students are trained each year at the Peradeniya University Hospital for the MD (Sri Lanka) and MRCOG (UK) examinations.

Anatomy and physiology are closely interrelated subjects. This book covers both the subjects in a correlated manner so as to give a holistic view to the students. The text has been written in a simple language and concise manner with various levels of headings and subheadings. The text has been supplemented with a number of easily reproducible colour diagrams providing a photogenic memory to the reader. In addition, there are tables,flowcharts, graphs, etc. for comprehensive understanding of the two subjects. The clinical aspects given in the text provide a birds eyeview of many of the clinical conditions which the nursing students would observe during their training period. The book aims an ideal text for laying a strong foundation for the students of Auxiliary Nursing and Midwifery (ANM) and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) courses. It can also serve as an indispensable text for students of courses in allied health sciences.

Accident and emergency is an emerging specialty stressing on the knowledge and medical skills required for the prevention, diagnosis and management of the acute and urgent aspects of illness and injury, affecting patients of all age groups covering physical and behavioral disorders. As time is the critical factor in this specialty, this book is planned to serve as a handy guide and reference on widely accepted techniques currently available for finding ?Causes, ?clinical diagnosis, ?investigations and ?management of acute medical emergencies and other ?common disorders. The contents of this book are presented in five parts Introduction (History Taking and Physical Examination) Medical Emergencies Accident Emergencies Surgical Emergencies Administrative and Legal Considerations Appendices The book discusses acute emergencies as well as some other common disorders for which the patients visit the department of accident and emergency for consultation and treatment. Special chapters on pediatric infections, cardiovascular disease, psychiatric problems, obstetrics and gynecological problems, environmental disorders, acute abdomen, and fractures are intended to serve as medically-oriented discussions in patient-care. Special attention has been given to recent developments such as pandemic Covid-19 and other infections; and in orthopedic surgery such as interlocking nailing, total joint replacement, revised hip arthroplasty, anterior cruciate ligament replacement and arthroscopic surgery. The book primarily aims at the medical students, residents, medical officers and all other professionals forming the main and support teams in the department of accident and emergency (A&E) in a hospital.

The book aims to serve the interest of undergraduate students preparing for their professional examination and clinical posting in medicine. It gives 104 clinical cases in medicine with focus on presentation and discussion. The text has been written keeping in mind the fact that during the final year practical examination students do not get sufficient time between the examinations of different specialties i.e. obstetrics and gynecology surgery medicine and pediatric and the entire subject has to be covered in only one or two days and hence the usefulness and Importance of this concise book.

At the end of the nineteenth century, Paul Ehrlich suggested the use of "bodies which possess a particular affinity for a certain organ as carrier by which to bring therapeutically active groups to the organ in question". Unfortunately even today the concept is still at the experimental stage and has not been translated into practice.
