Principles of Human Physiology
Based on the author’s earlier publication Anatomy and Physiology for Nurses and Allied Health Sciences, this textbook has been written with extensive revision and addition made in the text and graphics in an effort to make it especially useful for the undergraduate students of courses in nursing and allied health sciences. A large number of freshly drawn illustrations has been provided to facilitate understanding of the subject. Extensive use of color has been made in text and illustrations to enhance the visual impact and cognition. Though effort has been made to be brief so as not to burden the student with too many details, yet complete curriculum has been covered leaving no topic of physiology untouched. The common disease conditions encountered by nurses in the hospital setting have been mentioned. Physiological derangements have been coordinated with the disease conditions. With complete coverage of topics in physiology, the teachers/tutors in the institutions will also find the textbook useful to refer to the topics for preparing their class lectures. In addition, the book is intended to be useful for courses in allied health sciences as well as those courses in which human physiology is taught as a core subject. Coverage of physiology could make their understanding of the encountered clinical conditions easier and help them in handling these conditions, both in the clinics/wards or laboratories. The book should serve as a basic text for all relevant undergraduate courses not only in India but also in the neighboring as well as most countries in South Asia. Highlights of the book o Human physiology explained in brief and simple language. o Brief overview at the beginning of each chapter. o Text in colorto enhance cognition. o Physiological concepts explained with numerous illustrations. o All graphics in colorto enhance visual impact. o Pathophysiology of common diseases added to facilitate patient care. o MCQs added for each chapter to revise and prepare for the examinations.
