Prakash’s Atlas of Primary Hip Arthroplasty
Unlike the western world, where primary osteoarthritis of the hip is a very common condition, in our circumstances, indications for a primary total hip arthroplasty are very different. Likewise, the patient demands and expectations too are extremely different, because a European patient seldom squats or sits cross legged. Since Sr John Charnley invented this procedure in the sixties, more than twenty million hips have been replaced worldwide, and have lasted for thirty years or longer, making it a rewarding and extremely gratifying procedure, both or the patient and the surgeon. However, complications when they happen, are often disastrous and leave the patient crippled. The difference between a hip that lasts for thirty years and that which dislocates in two weeks, is essentially more dependent on the exactness of the surgical technique, rather than the type of implant used or method of fixation employed. This book teaches you the basics and the nitty gritty of the total hip replacement procedure in a simple storybook style. Profusely illustrated with ?Netter style? drawings, painted by the author himself, this book is a pleasure to read and a treasure trove of knowledge. Untainted by commerce, and without promoting a specific brand or design, the author has laid bare the essential tricks, that will help you to plan and execute this procedure flawlessly. Dr L.Prakash has shared his thirty years of experience as an arthroplasty surgeon, and written this book, which will be extremely useful to anyone performing this fascinating surgery.

Practical Physiology
Practical Physiology, This book has been prepared according to the syllabus of Medical Council of India for the first professional MBBS students. All the experiments in the manual have been covered in the following four sections. 1. Haematology Experiments 2. Amphibian Experiments 3. Human Experiments 4. Mammalian Experiments (experiments for postgraduate students) While due attention has been given to the content, the book has been kept relatively compact. Emphasis has been given to the non-invasive human experiments to make them more clinical and interesting for the students. The book provides ideal and original graphs for the purpose of analysis by the students so that they can understand the basic aspects of clinical science clearly and succinctly. The photographs of equipment used in amphibian experiments are given to make the students familiar with them. The graphs included in the book have been prepared to make them scientifically more accurate. Most of the graphs included in the book were recorded on the Polyrite or student physiograph, showing far better graphs as compared to the records on simple kymograph. The colour photographs of the postures and methods to elicit the stretch reflexes are given in human experiments so that the students can easily understand the procedure to elicit these reflexes. Because of this fact the book may be helpful to the 3rd and 4th year MBBS students also for clinical examination of the patients. The practicals given in the section on mammalian experiments are basically the postgraduate practicals but these experiments may be kept for demonstration to the undergraduate students. Some possible viva voce questions have been given at the end of each experiment along with the answers. Practical Pharmaceutical Chemistry Part 2
The objectives of this revision have been achieved in part by reducing the heavy dependence of earlier editions on the methods of the British Pharmacopoeia. Wherever possible, examples are based on drugs and dosage forms that are in widespread and common use in Britain, continental Europe and North America. Additionally, some reference to veterinary pharmaceuticals is made where they provide appropriate examples. As in previous editions, substances that are the subject of monographs in the British Pharmacopoeia are denoted by their British Approved Names (BAN), and are distinguished from United Adopted Names (Usan) where these are given by setting BANs in italics.
