Colour Atlas Of Wildlife Diseases and Disorders
After the first publications of Wild mammalia reproduction and conservation and Indian wildlife diseases and disorders by B.M.Arora, Principal Scientist, Wildlife and Ex-Director National Zoological Park it was realized that findings of various studies conducted in husbandry associated health problems and diseases and disorders in in-situ and ex-situ wildlife conservation be compiled and produce in the form of ?A Colour Atlas of Wildlife Diseases and Disorders?. It appears that no such attempts have been made so far to bring out such practical guide for the professionals working in the field of wildlife health, management and conservation. On the aspects this Atlas is embellished with pictorial illustrations (predominately contains colour illustrations but where they were not available black and white) of cases of approx 860 mammals, 102 aves and 90 reptilian and amphibian. Thus, the Atlas is unique, not only in illustrating and expressing in detail development anomalies, eco- husbandry associated hazards, nutritional and metabolic disorders and infectious and parasitic diseases and neoplasms, diseases and disorders pictoriafly in diverse Artiodactylid, non-human primate, rodents and pangolins, perissodactylid, protoboscid, bird, reptile & amphibian species and entailing their magnitude in two different, in-situ and ex-situ management environments. The Atlas also imbibes few important case reports pertaining to exotic species from wildlife management point of view which have been added avizendamaly to apprise the field workers and wildlife managers. This would facilitate the research scientist, scholars and academicians in understanding impact of wildlife management and disease problems in the country. The Atlas is definitive perspective treasure, likely to aid and guide for the workers of discipline of wildlife health management and those engaged in disease investigation and diagnoses, which are difficult and always involves cumbersome laboratory procedures and need reference works. Over all eventually it will be baneful to the field professionals engaged in wildlife health and eco- husbandry management practices.
